William Crawford was born 7 June 1691 in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland and died 1761 in Augusta Co, VA.

He married Mary Douglas. She was 26 November 1693 in Dalkeith, Midlothian, Scotland and died 1726 in Lancaster Co, VA. She was the daughter of William Douglas and Grizzell MacCleand.

Their children were:

Mary Blair Crawford (born about 1720 in VA); married John Poage
